About the Dental Assistant Position
​
We are looking for a qualified dental assistant who will make the office experience more efficient, pleasant and "magical" for our patients. You’ll ensure the patients are well taken care, explain treatment to the patients and their parents in a calm and understanding way, and work with the dentist to hands-on assist during procedures.
​
Dental assistants should be well-organized with close attention to detail. You should be able to follow instructions and respect dental office rules and regulations- understanding that patients are sometimes fearful or just don't know what to expect while in the office. We want you to be skilled in providing direct or indirect patient care, infection control, x-rays, patient education, and able to make office procedures as smooth as possible.

Dental Assistant Responsibilities

Welcome customers in the dental office

Prepare clients for treatments or checkups ensuring their comfort

Select and set up instruments, equipment and material needed

Sterilize instruments according to regulations

Take dental x-rays
-
Assist the dentist through 4-handed dentistry

Undertake lab tasks as instructed

Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions, patient education, informed consent, patient calming techniques, etc.

Keep the dental room clean and well-stocked

Schedule appointments

Maintain accurate patient records and assist with payment procedures, as necessary

Dental Assistant Requirements
​

Proven experience as dental assistant
-
Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
-
Understanding of health & safety regulations
-
Ability to take high quality (readable) diagnostic x-rays for the dentist

Good computer skills
-
Excellent communication and people skills
-
Attention to detail
-
Well-organized and reliable/dependable (punctual and good attendance is very important)
-
High school diploma; graduating from dental assistant school is preferred
-
Additional certification or training is an asset (e.g. EFDA) and may be required (infection control, CPR, etc.)
